Panic sets in as the Porters prepare for a dreaded visit from Bill’s widowed mother Bette, who gives Jenny an awful taffeta dress and David a video nasty. Bette is demanding as she kicks Bill and Ben out of their bedroom and irritates them constantly with her demands. The next day, Bill returns home from work and discovers Bette in bed with an old flame, which is the reason she commandeered the master bedroom. Appalled and upset at first, they later have a heart-to-heart conversation, and Bill realises she is becoming more like her mother with age.
Bill’s bumps into Angelo again, telling him that she is married with two children.
Ben has to visit attractive ex-girlfriend Pauline to do some plumbing work. He tells her that he is married to Bill and has two children. She tells him that she is dissatisfied with her husband Trevor and tries to encourage Ben to have an affair with her.
